This Month In Food: Food Startups In The Lions Den, Dairy is Dying, Insects Keep Crawling.
Summer holidays are just around the corner, cold kombuchas, iced coffees and frozen paletas are waiting for you by the lake, but before you go soak up the sun here's your recap of This Month in Food:
Start-ups in the digital food and hospitality sector can now apply to the newly launched FIT Digital by EHL, Umami expands it's operations to grow fish, shrimp and microgreens in city centres, planted continues to wow consumers into thinking they're chicken, Re-circle lands a deal with Coop restaurants to cut down on plastic waste, digital flavour marketplace iSense attracts investors early on, Manor partners with Bio'c'Bon to bring more organic products in stores, and food startups make up a large part of this years cohort at Masschallenge.
The Swiss-version of Shark Tank (The Lions Den) has wrapped up the first season with 8 startups active in the food space, including a vegan bakery, CBD dog food, bone broth, banana chips and more. Of this batch 1 deal of Chf 750'000 for cold brew coffee collapsed after recording but a deal of Chf 250'000 in exchange for 25% was successful for restaurant payment app, Tastier.
